Self-Care Quarantine

So, we have officially been forced by our workplaces to stay at home and relax. No problem! This will be a great time to finish that book, hang those curtains, and treat yourself to a much needed refresh.

If you didn’t think to grab a face mask or two when running into the store for milk and meat, this is for you. Online shopping will be your best friend during this pandemic, and your skin will thank you for it. This is my online shopping guide to a proper self-care quarantine.

High Frequency Machine

This device is almost too good to be true. High frequency is great for all skin types and can be used all over the body to promote circulation, treat acne and scarring, reduce pore size, and more. Each device comes with several attachments used for different areas. I like to use the mushroom applicator for my whole face, then the bend tube to focus on acne spots. Hands down the fastest solution to a clear complexion!

High frequency is like an at-home laser, so it is important to follow the instructions. Start with a cleansed face, dry to the touch. You can control the power, so start low and work your way up over time. For oily skin, it’s best to use direct high frequency. For sensitive skin, I recommend guiding the tool with a cotton round; indirect frequency.

Ice Roller

After high frequency, I love to cool down my acne spots with ice globes. It looks like Amazon Prime is all sold out, so an ice roller will do the trick! This will calm inflammation and shrink your pores while preventing wrinkles.

The ice roller is a great tool to have at home when you wake up feeling fatigued and puffy. It is also great for burns and achy joints.

LED Face Mask

An LED mask will be the best investment for your skin! LED light therapy is a non-invasive procedure that uses panels of infrared light to activate skin cells. It works similar to photosynthesis in plants, in that it converts light energy within the skin cells to help promote anti-aging and healing effects.

Red

Penetrates the fiber cells which aids production of collagen, reducing fine lines and wrinkles.

Blue

Kills harmful bacteria within the skin, while diminishing inflammation and preventing skin breakouts. Great for sensitive and oily skin.

Green

Leaves the skin even and bright, while stimulating the lymphatic system. Also known to relieve mental stress.

Purple

Combines red and blue light benefits. Accelerates blood circulation and lymph metabolism.

Yellow

Relieves irritation and enhances the immunity within the skin. It also stimulates the lymphatic and nervous system. Best for swollen and sensitive skin.

White

Activates your skins natural renewal system to reverse signs of aging.

Pick which skin concern you would like to tackle, lay back and relax while your complexion is enhanced. I choose to use my mask on a bare face to reduce any potential reflection from shine. Afterwards, massage in your moisturizer.

Dry Brushing

If you haven’t realized by now, I am f*cking extra when it comes to skin care. But I am guilty of not paying as much attention to the skin that is not on my face. During this quarantine I am committed to self-care from head-to-toe. Heard of dry brushing?

Dry brushing is a technique to get the lymphatic system moving. Before showering, brush your skin while dry, so you can wash away dead skin and release toxins. Your shower will wash away the dead skin cells, and you will hop out feeling refreshed. I think I can commit to this five minutes per day!

Jade Roller

More lymphatic drainage. I am sure you all have heard of or own a jade roller. If you’re new to the scene, this is a great time to secure this deal. This is not only for lymphatic drainage, but also just a great massage tool that when used in an outward motion leaves your skin glowing.

Begin by applying your favorite serum or mask. Starting on your chin, work from the center of your face outward and upward on the cheeks. Roll the crystal facial roller starting from the center of your neck, upward and outward. Continue for each section of your face.

A tip I learned is to clear your neck lymph before draining your face. Once your facial massage is done, clear down your neck again.

Hopefully you all are taking this opportunity to stay at home, relax and refresh. Keep yourself occupied by taking care of yourself- mind and body. Let us find light in a dark time. Sleep in, wake up. Move your body, move your lymphatic system. Exercise your brain. Call a friend, call me. Start your blog, start your book. Finish your book. Take care of yourself XO
