I recently ran a Twitter poll and asked whether my following found it hard to be “stylish”. Out of the mere 29 people who participated, more than half decided, yes, being stylish is hard. So I’m thinking… why? Is it too much of an investment? Is the research too time consuming? Or is the whole process just intimidating? (This became my second poll.) Answers were across the board so I hopped on my computer and put my research to the blogging. I hope this free, effortless post is not so intimating and helps all of you want-to-be-trendy readers take on the upcoming spring styles!
Blazers

The blazer has become the on and off-duty staple for models and bloggers across the globe. What is even better about this trend? You can find the best blazers at your local Good Will or Salvation Army – thank you grandpas! Model, Kaia, is rocking this modest cropped blazer with a pair of relaxed jeans on the Off-White runway, while Kourtney Kardashian (right) pairs an oversized blazer with a pair of short shorts. The proportions are what give the strength of tailoring without compromising femininity. I just scored a major vintage leather blazer similar to the one below.

Kitten Heels
What’s a kitten heel, you ask? It is a thin, tapering heel that is under two inches. They were very popular in the 50’s and growing up I always considered them to be for old women. Newsflash! After research I found the kitten heel is called the kitten heel because they were used as “training heels” for young women. Only until the stiletto made a comeback did the kitten heel seem outdated.
Designers like Jimmy Choo and Manolo Blahnik have proven that kitten heels are no longer old-fashioned by adding flare to the low-heeled shoe, proving that style and comfort are no longer mutually exclusive.

Fanny Pack

Ditch your handbag and strap on a stylish fanny pack! This trend is already thriving in the New York streets paired with a simple t-shirt dress and heels, or add to a sporty-chic coordinate. Men are included on this one!

Color of the Year: Lavender
The light purple, or lilac, is replacing the “millennial pink” after making its debut on the ready-to-wear spring and fall 2018 runways. Most runway looks were directed towards both bold suiting and tonal athleisure. Rihanna advertised her new lavender Fenty Beauty lipstick, paired with a matching fur and deep purple sunnies on Instagram in December. Here are a few lavender pieces to kick start your spring wardrobe!

High-Waist Palazzo Pants, Mango
Cropped Sweater, Free People
Square Necklines & Puffed Shoulders
The lack of plunging necklines on spring and summer runways was hard to ignore. This is something that I have always paid close attention to due to having a bigger bust than most models walking designer runways. I am very excited to see square necklines this season because of the way it opens up the chest and shoulders without showing too much cleavage.
Puffed shoulder detailing is coming hand-in-hand with these square necklines, inspired by a modern-vintage. I love a subtle puffed shoulder to add just a little something to a basic tee or flowy dress. Take your pick and do no be afraid to try this one out!
