Jumpsuits, jumpsuits, jumpsuits. Never enough jumpsuits! While the Academy Awards means the end of award season, it also means the start to event season. Prom may be a few months away, but the dress shopping can begin as early as winter time.
I went to prom twice, but looking back I wish I made a bigger statement. For my junior prom I went for a princess feel. I wanted to feel beautiful in a slightly sequined, tulle-layered gown. I found the then-perfect lavender dress at my first stop in Nordstrom.
I took notes during the event… I realized what I liked and what I didn’t like, and was already thinking about my senior year dress. When the time came, I only actually knew what color I wanted to wear – white. I wanted to look tan and blonde in a subtly sexy white gown.
Settling on a color before finding a dress can go north or south. You narrow down your options, but what happens when you haven’t found the perfect dress within that small bracket? Well, after weeks of searching, my mother and I finally landed in BCBG at the King of Prussia Mall *entering the gates of heaven sound effects.*
I couldn’t have been more grateful to be torn between two gorgeous white gowns. I chose a white dress that clinched my waist and showed a little cleavage with a mesh overlay plunge detail. Four years later, I can’t quite remember what the other dress looked like, but something tells me I would’ve liked it just as much, if not, more.
In retrospect, I see why I chose the two gowns I chose. I wanted to feel like a princess one year and I wanted to feel sexy for my senior year. If I could go back with the mindset and interests and knowledge of now, I would totally go BIG. Which brings me back to prom-dress-jumpsuits. Have you ever seen a chick walk down the promenade in a jumpsuit? Didn’t think so…
Break out of your comfort zone! Own this years prom with one of these fabulous, formal jumpsuits at great prices.

- The silk and waist belt do all the talking! Pair this jumpsuit with simple, ankle-strap heels and a simple black or white choker. A long, slicked-back pony would be perfect!
Silk Plunge Jumpsuit, After Party Vintage

- Loving the cape featured on this chic jumpsuit! I would wear minimal accessories with a black lace-up pump to add sex appeal. Wavy or slicked-back hair.
Maxi Cape Jumpsuit, Lavish Alice

- For those of you that love the prom jumpsuit idea, but don’t want to go too far out of your comfort zone, this piece is perfect for you! The strapless actually converts to thin straps, if chosen. The pant is dressed up with a split-pant look making it part dress, part jumpsuit.
Strapless Split-Pant Jumpsuit, White House Black Market

- Obsessed isn’t even the word. If I were going to prom this year, this would without a doubt be my look! The plunge neckline is super sexy and balances perfectly with the cape sleeve detail that doubles as a flared-sleeve look. I would wear this jumpsuit with a very simple body chain layered underneath, with lace-up pumps of course. If you want to add drama to the look, rock a statement choker with a simple ankle-strap heel. Subtle waves or super straight hair would look amazing!
