What NOT to Wear

Feeling self-conscience about your arms? Your small chest? Bra fat? Be careful not to purchase everything that looks good on the model… Be aware of your measurements and strong suits before spending your money on only-store-credit-return pieces. Here is a guide of what not to wear, and what you should, to hide your insecurities and show off your best features! While you’re working on that beach bod, of course…

Arms

Arms

Wear an open cardigan to cover up your arms while attracting attention to your front side. Confident with your waste band? Wear a crop top, like pictured, to add depth and layer.

If you’re trying to hide stubborn arm fat, stray away from muscle tees and cap sleeves. Lean towards a longer and tighter sleeve for a slimming effect.

Shoulders

Shoulders

Shoulders may seem like an odd insecurity, but your arms are attached to your shoulders (obvi), which are attached to your back. And with your back, may come back fat. A great way to fashionably hide your back fat is the new cape trend! I’m loving this dress that accentuates the body while draping over the potential bra fat.

Another insecurity with shoulders may be your not-so-sophisticated posture. Don’t pick up an off-the-shoulder top if you aren’t planning on keep your shoulders back and chest out all day! If you enjoy a short cut, go for a long bob. The shorter your hair, the more attention put on your thicker upper-body.

Busty

Busty

If you know me, you know I’m not crazy about having a bigger chest. I’ve found that tight-fitted tops are more flattering than flowy. While your chest may seem more noticeable, it’s much better than looking like a sack of potatoes. If you’re simply trying to minimize your breast appearance, invest in an appropriately sized bralette. Adjustable straps will help with lifting, with no padded bra adding to your problem.

With that being said, stay away from flowy tops like pictures above… Like below, these tops are best for smaller chests and torso’s to add appeal of added weight. Believe it or not, some skinny minnie’s would love to gain weight!

Not-So-Busty

Not-So-Busty

I don’t have much personal experience with the “not-so-busty” issue, but I will say to take advantage of the opportunity. Wear tiny bralettes, or no bra for that matter. Want a little enhancement? Invest in a fitting Victoria’s Secret Bombshell bra. I personally love a bohemian style in the warmer seasons, so pick up as many flowy tops as you can!

Waistline

Waistline

While you’re working on your beach bod, ditch the waist trainer and pick up a few thick waist belts. There are a variety of widths and designs for waist belts that will give you a slimmer appeal, while adding a statement to a simple dress. Another trick to the appearance of a slimmer waist is an off-the-shoulder design. Bringing attention to the widest part of your body will make your waist appear smaller! You’re welcome.

DO NOT wear horizontal stripes when trying to slim the appearance your waist. This creates an illusion of stretching your body’s width, horizontally.

Legs

Legs

Choose neutral-toned pumps to give the appearance of longer legs!

While the flared leg pant may be flattering to curve out your legs, stay away from horizontal stripes and heavy prints like above! Patterns will bring the eye to your legs and can make them appear larger.
