DIY Halloweekend Costumes

According to Instagram, it’s “Halloweekend.” From Thursday to Friday your college campus is flocking with girls in tutus, men in scrubs and minions of every gender. This semester is the first of my senior year of college, so it’s safe to say I feel a little old to be wearing a costume… but what would Halloweekend be without a little dress up? Here are several do-it-yourself Halloween costumes for girls (like me) trying to throw something together last-minute.

hotline bling

Drake recently released the video for his single “Hotline Bling,” and I must say, dressing up as a hotline girl is a great last-minute costume idea. Grab a plain pink tee with a pair of your high-waisted jeans with simple pumps and you’re ready to go. They’re even selling pink tees with the graphic “1-800-HOTLINE-BLING”, but since this is a last-minute costume, ordering the tee isn’t ideal.

Kelly SBTB

saved by the bell

So simple and cute! Use a pair of your own high-waisted jeans, with black suspenders and a white bandeau to pull together a Kelly Kapowski costume. If you don’t have a pair of high-waisted jeans, head to Good Will! Check out the men’s department and grab a pair of Levi’s in your waist size. Become the beautiful girl-next-door with only three articles of clothing for under $30. Wear natural makeup with sheer lipgloss, and straight hair with your bangs pulled aside!

the simple life

Run to the mall of Good Will for a denim mini and a pair of overalls and reinvent Paris Hilton and Nicole Richie from their former reality show, The Simple Life. For Paris, a denim mini, a dog stuffed animal and a bulky flower choker would be perfect! If you don’t have a denim choker, cut a piece of denim or blue fabric and glue on a big faux flower detail. Not into projects? Grab a soft headband from the baby section and use it as a necklace! For Nicole, pair denim overalls with your own bra, and grab a pitch-fork from the Halloween section, or this gardening tool from your fathers garage… Hysterically cute.

life-size emoji

This last-minute costume is as simple as it gets! I love the idea of bringing emojis to life, and this dancing girl emoji is perfect for a pair of best friends. Grab a black leotard and a pair of black bunny ears, with black heels from home and you’re all set! Add some tights for extra warmth and post a picture for Insta in the dancing girl pose. So cute!
