Nudes with Attitude

I love a dramatic smokey eye for a girls night out, or a classic red lip with subtle shadow, but on a daily basis I prefer a natural look! I like to start by creating a clear complexion, followed by the grooming of my eyebrows and eyelashes. Unluckily for me, I don’t have the fullest lips. Luckily for me, nude lipsticks and glosses help create a perfect natural pout. Whether you’re going for an all-natural face or your eyeshadow speaks for itself above a natural lip, these are my top five shades of nude.

Lipsticks

Too Faced Melted

Melted is definitely one of my favorites. The precise application makes it easy to apply without the need for lip liner. This is the “Neutral Nude” shade, for $21. Melted is applied as a liquid but provides a matte, long lasting finish. Definitely worth the price!

Ulta Collection

My next favorite nude shade is in the ULTA Collection, shade 224, “Coffee Break.” This lipstick provides a smooth, shiny finish. The best part? It’s only $8. The second best part? When you reapply, the lipstick doesn’t cake and it just as smooth as the initial application.

NYX Butter

Next up is NYX’s Butter Lipstick. My favorite shades are “Snow Cap” and “Smormellow.” NYX couldn’t have titled this any better. This glides on and keeps your lips moist during wear. If you usually apply lipgloss over your lipstick or lip liner, this $6 Butter lipstick saves you a step!

Bare Minerals Marvelous Moxie

For those who prefer a gloss over a lipstick, Bare Mineral’s Marvelous Moxie is just, amazing. I was always weird about lip glosses until I started watchingGossip Girl and became obsessed with Blake Lively’s gorgeously glowing face, from her youthful skin to her glossy lips. I was inspired… I purchased Bare Mineral’s sample-sized gloss set, “Nudes with Attitude,” around Christmas time 2014, and never loved my little lips more! The mauve and nude shades are pigmented to perfection. My favorite of the set is “Trailblazers.” This shade gives me a pink nudey lip with gorgeous shine! Full size glosses are $18, and so worth it.

Mac Lipstick

If you know me, you know I’ve never followed the hype behind Mac Cosmetics. Their foundations and concealers are oily, and every time I’ve tried to have Mac artists make me over, I feel faked and caked. However, I know many makeup lovers adore Mac’s shadows, and especially, lipsticks. I’d have to agree on their variety of shades, which helped me discover the mauve shade “Twig.” The lipstick application is smooth with a matte-Kylie-Jenner finish, at $16 a tube!
